16 Dec

I iz back from Hong Kong and Macau!

And I’m feeling the withdrawal from the sleep debt of the past five days. For the past few days, sleep has been little and shallow while day activities are draining. Still, it was all in good fun.  Hong Kong has an insane night life and there were so many things to do. Hongkies also dress very much better than we do here. Hell, they’re look like they’re going to prom everyday. I exaggerate, but you get the point.

You would think that Singapore has a pretty decent night life. Wrong. Shops in Hong Kong are still mostly open at 11.00pm and the streets are so crowded you’d think it’s 8pm on an 85 street. We could even go for a massage at 2am in the morning for cheap.

So Xavier, Jasmin, Boonkai and I met at the budget terminal one early afternoon on the 11th December for our flight towards Hong Kong. Our plane reached the country which felt like it was fully air-conditioned, and checked into our hostel right smack in the middle of Mongkok. The night was young, so was the impeccably well dressed crowd. I have to admit it was very daunting to be walking along the streets carrying luggages, trying to navigate to our hostel. We had dinner at a small food place which sells really cheap food, which tastes funny. And then we went back to our cozy hostel with bunk beds and hit the sacks.

Day 2 saw a very packed schedule, with many activities in one day. We woke up pretty early for breakfast at the Australian Dairy place, which sells very awesome dairy pudding-ish thing. The queue was freakishly long, but we got in fast cuz the waiters were really efficient. Of course that means we have to leave as soon as we finished eating. We then headed for Disney Land, at Hong Kong island. It cost pretty much, but it was really fun and we get to take photos with the Disney princesses and cartoon character. And for some reason, I got lots of Deja Vu during the trip to Disney land. :/

Following which we headed to the Madame Tussauds wax museum on the peak which was super chilly and foggy. We also went for fortune telling on the Market Street after a quick browse through Temple street. Apparently, I don’t like the girls who like me and those I really like will be really whimsical (like me). She concluded that around April- June next year, I would meet someone who is slightly older than me and who is really pretty. I hope the latter is true though age is not exactly an issue either. We then went for a spontaneous massage at this place opposite our place at 2am. It was refreshing and the dog was amazingly obedient and adorable I wanna stow it in my bag and bring it back.

–TBC—

so anyway, for the third and forth day, we met Karen and her friend for Dimsum at various places. We also got to ride those super skinny bus-like electric trams which was insanely cool. Hong Kong’s H&M was one of the venues we have great anticipation for. Their merchandises were really really cheap and Boonkai grabbed a bunch of tees at about S$8-11 each. I just got a formal shirt which costs only like S$10. It was super awesome. After which, we headed back to Temple Street and Ladies Market.

The last two days saw us in Macau, which was freezing by the second day. We stayed in Emperor Hotel, which is smack in the middle of like, 10 Casinos or something. The first thing we did after checking into the hotel is to crash the casinos.

That night alone we visited like, around 5-6 casinos. I swear I passive smoked twice as much in that few hours, compared to my 19 years of life till then. But then, there was free sandwich and bao and horlicks. ;)

Anyway, after two days of insane gambling, we all flew back to Singapore the next very very terribly cold morning.

16 June [Nygah]

Here’s a little birthday shout out to two of my friends:

Happy birthday Clarice Zhang

Happy Birthday Diann Lee

So anyway,

Anyone who has waddled in rainy puddles would have an idea of how being in wet canvas shoes can be downright awful. There was an insane deluge earlier today, and we had a school trip. The rain was awesome and the bus was really sleek, but it really sucked when we had to waddle our way across the shin-high baby-pool-wannebe puddle, along a really tortuous road which left the bottom half of our jeans, and our shoes totally soggy.

And we had to spend the next 8 hours in an air-conditioned place. Cold much?

All whining done, that trip was actually really rewarding. There were so much information that haven’t been on the news and I just added another potential job to my imaginary job listing. The people there were totally dawgggg. HAHAHAH! Inside joke, please.

Half of my GSS shopping is done and my bank account is screaming stop. Speaking of shopping, what’s with the berms this days? I mean, HELL, they’re only half the length of a typical jeans but yet they’re, like, a fraction less expensive. Seriously, who buy berms which costs like $70, let alone $99. Okay, there’re also rich people out there.

But I’m not. Yet.

Sheesh, some people just wanna rip us off.

Meanwhile, I will revel in my own cheap berms.

HAH.

Amongst my many frequent introspective conflicts,  deciding the appropriate level of annoyance to display has always been a tad of a problem. Look, when you are not that pleased with a certain somebody, there is usually a need to downplay your disapproval. While you’re trying to get your frustration across, you also want the relationship to stay status quo. Most people I know would try to masquerade the whole remark to make it look off-handed or casual. Adding a ‘LOL’ or a simple ‘haha’ would usually mitigate the otherwise hostile message.

Personally, there were times I gave replies I utterly regret- and so I apologize. Only to regret it again because it feels like I’ve lost, like I’ve conceded. I think it’s something called male ego.  Or sometimes I try the ‘gotta count to 10, gotta count to 10. URGH! 100..99…98′ method, which is totally effective because I either lose count, or  I just fall asleep halfway.

I think it sucks to be angry. It’s a bloody waste of time. I can’t do anything right when I’m angry because part of my brain is thinking about it. I can’t go to sleep either because my brain would be nagging about it STILL. So I pretty much spend the next few minutes listen to myself nag.

What? I’m not angry now. What gives you that idea?

Now for some happy thoughts.

There was this small outing with Gina and Boonkai yesterday. We had our little feet walk around from Tampines to Parkway, and then from there to the east coast. I’ve finally gotten my replacement flip flops in lieu of my stolen Praia, and also a new pair of berms. There were a few wicked sales around that area but I’m pretty sure it’s over by now though. So tough luck, friends!

Then we headed over to the Astons in Parkway for dinner. At 5pm. Being cool people that we are, we hit the arcade in the mall. I think we brought good luck or something. While we were playing ‘Photo Hunt’  or ‘Spot the Difference’ (if you so wish to call it by such) , this girl got a jackpot at the machine behind us. Her gift was one of those environmentally friendly grocery bag. What a domestic gift. The game machine switched into flashing lights mode and was going like, wooo wooo wooo . Then, while we were leaving and passing by the plush toys machines, this girl manage to get one of the claws to not drop the plush, like they always do. I mean, most plush machines are a sham. They would only allow, like, one in every hundred to get their plush. CHEATS!

Do you see the similarity? I dont.

Do you see the similarity? I don't.

That, of course, was our high score. GO SMACK 'EM DEAD :D

I had to smile even though I hated my icecream flavor. Rum n Rasins, yuck!

I should have gotten the green tea flavor instead.

I got over the flavor after a while. It started to taste like vanilla. Hmm

oh yeah, Gina realized that we were all #3s

Boonkai tried to kiss the fish. I tried to tell him it wasnt such a good idea cuz his icecream would get wet and smell fishy. D:

We were bored. The night was still young. That’s why we walked over to east coast park, which was brimming (read: OVERFLOWING) with YDRs. It is possible that in another decade, they would be the majority. I bet it’s because while we are getting more westernized and responding to the 2 child policy, they are breeding babies like rabbits. Pop Pop Pop! What can I say? After all,we are avid government campaign supporters. Back in east coast park, it was unanimously agreed that the breakers would suffice as an outdoor photo studio. Apparently, the cockroaches thought it was a great place to skittle around too. We met, we clashed, we lost, we fled, chagrined.

Those specks look like stars. They were just sand that Boonkai had sent flying.

I look weird.

I look dangerous with my hood up.

This looks artistic.

This looks artistic. The camera seems to be getting lower and lower as well

I'm trying to show my clevage. Can't you tell?

Now the camera seems higher.

I thought that I look idiotic whenever I grinned too hard. So I smiled. It didn't work cuz I still look retarded

There! There! Do you see the roach? That scheming bugger.

Spot The Roach! Do you see it? There! There! That scheming bugger.

We were tired, so we went into Coffee Bean to rest. Without drinks of course! Who would pay $6 just to sit down?

13 June [It's a long long journey]

Shawn John and I

Nostalgic much?

Strangely enough, this is one of the few (digital) photos I have left of 4B in my laptop. I’m pretty sure we have taken more photos, whether in vanity or out of habit, in the course of our 3.5 years of friendship. Either way just so you know, this photo was taken a year ago during Teacher’s Day 2008.

Yesterday was more of a sit-around-and-catch-up thing. I miss Shawn and John (and look, it rhymes) the most terribly amongst them, mostly because I have seen the others just recently; especially Chongning. So anyhow, it was great to see them, especially since it’s going to be one of the last few times we are going to meet up; NS, school, exams and all.

In the end, I missed my last bus, again.

It’s 5+ am in the morning now and my parents are preparing for their overnight Malaysia trip. I got up because I’d like to see them off. I doubt I can fall asleep after that though.

Martha Stewart is scary. Quit showing Martha Stewart and show more Ellen Degeneres.

after a while

My parents just left the house. I’m worried.

Firstly, my mother thought the bus was due to arrive at 630 so she was lazing around languidly, reading the newspapers. Then, my dad arrives home and started nagging at my mom cuz it was 5minutes to 600 and she hadn’t change and did final checks on the house yet.

It turned out that the bus would arrive at 605, so it was all rush and buzz; clothes were change, hair fixed, breakfast bowl cleared, windows shut- with dad nagging all the while. I’m kinda worried that they’ll forget something, not that it matters much, unless it’s passport and money.

SJ camps have scarred me so much that I will always be a pre-camp freak.

I HAVE to allocate time, usually 20minutes before I leave the house, to run through my baggages to check if I miss out anything. If I were to find that I’m missing something that I cannot get at that point, I would probably have an epilepsy scale 9. And you know what? Even after all that check, there were still times when I still forgot something and had to rush home to get it (Thank goodness AHS is so near).

That’s why I’m worried.

The folks didn’t do any checks on their belongings before they left (hurriedly) and the Checkpoint is really far from here. I have no idea why they have so much faith in Yesterday’s Them, and trust that the-them-from-yesterday have packed everything properly. I don’t.

Am I weird?

CIMG1697

I was late for school on Friday.
My only lesson for the day ended at 10.45 (15minutes before actual dismissal) and I reached school at 10.15.

That very same lesson had started at 8.00am.
Yes, I’m that late.

Anyway, I went for CCA camp on Friday/Saturday.
It was weird.
I barely know a handful of them.

I guess it is okay towards the end because I get to know some of them a little more, even if it’s only 1-5%. And yes, I was the medic for that camp, bearing scarce (and mostly expired/useless) equipments. There were only a few minor abrasions here and there but I applied alcohol swab anyway,  mostly because there was nothing else to apply and partly because of my sadistic impulses.

Does abrasion wound(s) from slipping and falling hurts as much as it looks?

I mean, the wounds I have been getting over this few months (or perhaps close to a year) have been contusion wounds and stubbed thighs or whatever; so I have not been exactly updated on the most recent pain factor for abasion wounds- Not that I want to slip and fall anytime soon at all.

BBQ was okay.

I mean, due to budgetting purposes, we used aluminium trays as BBQ pits. Just like the AHS people used to do.

It took quite a while (read: 1-2hours) for the fire to get going- Actually, it only took a short while for the fire to get started, once they switch the firestarter to Jason.

I didn’t eat a lot because it isn’t nice that I didn’t help out much. Plus it was already very late and the extra dose of calories would choke my arteries with more blubber.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHONGNING!

Anyway, as the study break draws closer, everyday is starting to feel like a Friday. It felt like a Friday yesterday (Wed), and it feels like a Friday today, too. It seems as though everyday is spent waiting for the arrival of the break.

Now, as I’m typing these words, my dinner (ONE potato) is steaming happily in the pressure cooker, as it has been for the past 15minutes. If it doesn’t get done in the next 10minutes, I will probably remove it from its hot spring bath and send it for some sauna in the mini oven. I should slather some suntan-butter-lotion on it first.

YUM.

I’m just too lazy to walk downstairs for takeaway dinner.

Watched Angels and Demon just now with Theo and Diann and I don’t really understand the first half of the story. It gets really great towards the ending though, with a twist right about 20minutes before the movie ends. I wonder how much they spent to make this movie. Hell, I wonder how much they earn, making this movie.

And I stained my bermudas with Nacho’s Cheese. Groans.

Today’s lesson: For some reason, I just never learn.
