16 Dec

I iz back from Hong Kong and Macau!

And I’m feeling the withdrawal from the sleep debt of the past five days. For the past few days, sleep has been little and shallow while day activities are draining. Still, it was all in good fun.  Hong Kong has an insane night life and there were so many things to do. Hongkies also dress very much better than we do here. Hell, they’re look like they’re going to prom everyday. I exaggerate, but you get the point.

You would think that Singapore has a pretty decent night life. Wrong. Shops in Hong Kong are still mostly open at 11.00pm and the streets are so crowded you’d think it’s 8pm on an 85 street. We could even go for a massage at 2am in the morning for cheap.

So Xavier, Jasmin, Boonkai and I met at the budget terminal one early afternoon on the 11th December for our flight towards Hong Kong. Our plane reached the country which felt like it was fully air-conditioned, and checked into our hostel right smack in the middle of Mongkok. The night was young, so was the impeccably well dressed crowd. I have to admit it was very daunting to be walking along the streets carrying luggages, trying to navigate to our hostel. We had dinner at a small food place which sells really cheap food, which tastes funny. And then we went back to our cozy hostel with bunk beds and hit the sacks.

Day 2 saw a very packed schedule, with many activities in one day. We woke up pretty early for breakfast at the Australian Dairy place, which sells very awesome dairy pudding-ish thing. The queue was freakishly long, but we got in fast cuz the waiters were really efficient. Of course that means we have to leave as soon as we finished eating. We then headed for Disney Land, at Hong Kong island. It cost pretty much, but it was really fun and we get to take photos with the Disney princesses and cartoon character. And for some reason, I got lots of Deja Vu during the trip to Disney land. :/

Following which we headed to the Madame Tussauds wax museum on the peak which was super chilly and foggy. We also went for fortune telling on the Market Street after a quick browse through Temple street. Apparently, I don’t like the girls who like me and those I really like will be really whimsical (like me). She concluded that around April- June next year, I would meet someone who is slightly older than me and who is really pretty. I hope the latter is true though age is not exactly an issue either. We then went for a spontaneous massage at this place opposite our place at 2am. It was refreshing and the dog was amazingly obedient and adorable I wanna stow it in my bag and bring it back.

–TBC—

so anyway, for the third and forth day, we met Karen and her friend for Dimsum at various places. We also got to ride those super skinny bus-like electric trams which was insanely cool. Hong Kong’s H&M was one of the venues we have great anticipation for. Their merchandises were really really cheap and Boonkai grabbed a bunch of tees at about S$8-11 each. I just got a formal shirt which costs only like S$10. It was super awesome. After which, we headed back to Temple Street and Ladies Market.

The last two days saw us in Macau, which was freezing by the second day. We stayed in Emperor Hotel, which is smack in the middle of like, 10 Casinos or something. The first thing we did after checking into the hotel is to crash the casinos.

That night alone we visited like, around 5-6 casinos. I swear I passive smoked twice as much in that few hours, compared to my 19 years of life till then. But then, there was free sandwich and bao and horlicks. ;)

Anyway, after two days of insane gambling, we all flew back to Singapore the next very very terribly cold morning.

Calista is damm funny as usual. She totally cracks me up.

HELLO CALISTA, I HOPE YOU SEE THIS!

P.S. Stop hiding your bangs. I have seen all the unglam things you have done over the years in St John. Hahahh!

25 December [:D]

It’s Christmas!

*Makes snow angel in imaginary snow*

Christmas this year is awesome because I met up with old friends, some I had not seen in a really long while. It’s kinda like our unspoken tradition- we would meet up a few days before the actual Christmas every year and I think we have been doing that since, maybe, Sec2. Oh, Sabrina’s mom was like, ” can you imagine next time they come with their children?”.

Actually, no. Because Clarice said she wants to have  4 kids and if they’re going to be anything like her, the rest of us better get pesticides ready :D

I love these folks.

I do.

You know what’s the first thing I would do if it actually snows in Singapore? I mean, besides freaking out (because it probably meant we’re going to die real soon), texting my friends, updating Facebook status, taking a shit load of pictures and shutting the windows. The first snow-related activity I would do is to go make snow angels. Or half bury myself in snow.

I watch too much TV.

Do you believe in Christmas Miracles?
I do.
Because I really need one.

21 September

Amongst my many frequent introspective conflicts,  deciding the appropriate level of annoyance to display has always been a tad of a problem. Look, when you are not that pleased with a certain somebody, there is usually a need to downplay your disapproval. While you’re trying to get your frustration across, you also want the relationship to stay status quo. Most people I know would try to masquerade the whole remark to make it look off-handed or casual. Adding a ‘LOL’ or a simple ‘haha’ would usually mitigate the otherwise hostile message.

Personally, there were times I gave replies I utterly regret- and so I apologize. Only to regret it again because it feels like I’ve lost, like I’ve conceded. I think it’s something called male ego.  Or sometimes I try the ‘gotta count to 10, gotta count to 10. URGH! 100..99…98′ method, which is totally effective because I either lose count, or  I just fall asleep halfway.

I think it sucks to be angry. It’s a bloody waste of time. I can’t do anything right when I’m angry because part of my brain is thinking about it. I can’t go to sleep either because my brain would be nagging about it STILL. So I pretty much spend the next few minutes listen to myself nag.

What? I’m not angry now. What gives you that idea?

Now for some happy thoughts.

There was this small outing with Gina and Boonkai yesterday. We had our little feet walk around from Tampines to Parkway, and then from there to the east coast. I’ve finally gotten my replacement flip flops in lieu of my stolen Praia, and also a new pair of berms. There were a few wicked sales around that area but I’m pretty sure it’s over by now though. So tough luck, friends!

Then we headed over to the Astons in Parkway for dinner. At 5pm. Being cool people that we are, we hit the arcade in the mall. I think we brought good luck or something. While we were playing ‘Photo Hunt’  or ‘Spot the Difference’ (if you so wish to call it by such) , this girl got a jackpot at the machine behind us. Her gift was one of those environmentally friendly grocery bag. What a domestic gift. The game machine switched into flashing lights mode and was going like, wooo wooo wooo . Then, while we were leaving and passing by the plush toys machines, this girl manage to get one of the claws to not drop the plush, like they always do. I mean, most plush machines are a sham. They would only allow, like, one in every hundred to get their plush. CHEATS!

Do you see the similarity? I dont.

Do you see the similarity? I don't.

That, of course, was our high score. GO SMACK 'EM DEAD :D

I had to smile even though I hated my icecream flavor. Rum n Rasins, yuck!

I should have gotten the green tea flavor instead.

I got over the flavor after a while. It started to taste like vanilla. Hmm

oh yeah, Gina realized that we were all #3s

Boonkai tried to kiss the fish. I tried to tell him it wasnt such a good idea cuz his icecream would get wet and smell fishy. D:

We were bored. The night was still young. That’s why we walked over to east coast park, which was brimming (read: OVERFLOWING) with YDRs. It is possible that in another decade, they would be the majority. I bet it’s because while we are getting more westernized and responding to the 2 child policy, they are breeding babies like rabbits. Pop Pop Pop! What can I say? After all,we are avid government campaign supporters. Back in east coast park, it was unanimously agreed that the breakers would suffice as an outdoor photo studio. Apparently, the cockroaches thought it was a great place to skittle around too. We met, we clashed, we lost, we fled, chagrined.

Those specks look like stars. They were just sand that Boonkai had sent flying.

I look weird.

I look dangerous with my hood up.

This looks artistic.

This looks artistic. The camera seems to be getting lower and lower as well

I'm trying to show my clevage. Can't you tell?

Now the camera seems higher.

I thought that I look idiotic whenever I grinned too hard. So I smiled. It didn't work cuz I still look retarded

There! There! Do you see the roach? That scheming bugger.

Spot The Roach! Do you see it? There! There! That scheming bugger.

We were tired, so we went into Coffee Bean to rest. Without drinks of course! Who would pay $6 just to sit down?

Sunday, 24 May

It’s countdown to disconnection.

I have got things to settle in this few moments of effective connectivity

The internet at home has been really awful recently. I have gotten disconnected so often it’s practically effortless to remember often I actually am online. Really, Singnet owes.

Other than the 我要唱下去 lyrics competition, the impending GSS is also hyping me up. As of 29th May, the annual GSS will begin, spanning all the way till 26 July. My strategy is this- to keep saving and saving up until the 24th July (which is also around the period when my MSTs end) and to spend it all during the remaining 5 days.

Personally, I think this is a great idea becayse the sales are bound to culminate towards the end of the period (in their final bid for sales). You get to have all the stuffs at an extra cheap deal. The sad thing is that some retails stores store only a limited number of stock for that period; once they’re all gone, they’re gone. So there may be lesser options then.

Therefore, the idea is to get the items you already have in mind first and shop for the wild grasses and flowers at the end.

Those that can wait:

  1. Jeans
  2. Business wear (1 set)
  3. 2 Berms
  4. Messenger Bags (?)
  5. Stationery and Organizers
  6. Books
  7. Room furnishings
  8. Sims 3

What I need:

  1. External Harddisk
  2. Spectacles
  3. SLR Camera
  4. 2 Casual Tops (No, not the spinning ones)
  5. Shoes (preferably those trainers that are decent enough to wear for casual events, vice versa
  6. Money

The above list is probably just the tip of the iceberg because it is virtually impossible to list everything I want because I don’t know that I want it yet. I mean, there are usually things out there that I will want to have, once I see it; I just haven’t seen it yet. What can I do? I’m insatiable.

Now for some dampening news that more for me than you.

-i just got disconnected and reconnected again-

MSTs are postponed and are now after the 3-week holidays, which also means that the horror is prolonged. I prefer it to be on week 7 (the week after next), which is the week before exams. That way, I can enjoy my holidays without the back-head nagging pestering me to mug.

Speaking of which, June is also the month SJ is having camp. I’m kind of apprehensive about it because the organizing team have already graduated and the new guys have taken over, which means that they can, and probably will, skip the canp.

Oh well, whatever works.

6 April

“….Everyone is a winner…”

“…May the best win…”

So if we equate this two simultaneous equations together, we get ” Everyone is the best”. So anyway, that was what the Chief Commissioner said yesterday during his pre-result speech. I would say that the speech is the same as every other every year, difference being the whole chunk is paraphrased.

Either way, as we have seen, complacency kills (quoted from Bixia).

For two years.

Never mind that. Well done to those who have brought something home.

So anyway, Calista, Sabrina, Jacintha and I were there yesterday, along with Weilun, Jonathan, Boonkai, Yiyang and most of the Sq4 ’08 , though I came after all the actual action had ceased. I think we made a huge racket because we were so busy shitting each other and grabbing extra food that the HQ had- Pandan Cakes. It was not hard to see that the Anglicans made up about 85% of the total spectator number, which was really sad because we barely filled 1/2 of the hall, which by the way is now FULLY AIR CONDITIONED.

My my, HQ is getting richer.

So I was asking weilun if he remembers those days when he was competing. Turned out that he had forgotten he had been to competition and Yiyang had to remind him. Speaking of which, Yiyang is really awesome for staying with our Corp for so long and his dedication is unmatched by any of us, whose post graduation participation have been sparse and fleeting.

YOU GO, YIYANG!!

The 4 of us (Sab, Cal, Jac and I) went to Suntec for dinner after the results were released. After trekking a round around the suntec food area, we went into Pepper Lunch for Dinner (sounds weird huh? Pepper LUNCH for DINNER) which at that point was the best option because it had the least objections  and it had a $9.90 Promotion. This form of Psychological Pricing gets me every time. SHUCKS. So anyway, Jacintha left halfway and the three of us went up to find the other oldies after we had finished our dinner.

The post competition dinner scene was nostalgic, to say the least. It reminded me of 2 years ago when my team were the competitors and also had dinner around the Fountain Of Wealth. We were chasing each other around the fountain, for goodness knows what reasons. Now when I’m older, it all seems so kiddish doing all the things, although there was little I wouldn’t give for a chance at that again.

By the way, this cartoon is really funny.

Recently, I have been watching ‘GHOST WHISPERER” all over again from Season 1 till its current showing episode in Season 4. It is really touching, though the story plot is kind of the same throughout – Misunderstanding, death, haunt, solve problems.

Still, I’m sure it has some educational messages entwined in it. Don’t ask me what- I’m still trying to figure it out. So in all, I’m watching it for the sake of its tear-inducing element. I know, I’m not doing a stellar job on promoting Ghost Whisperer, but whatever.

18 March [Anthem of the Freed; The Pending Bridge]

Up till now, the break has been pretty calm and smooth sailing, if even sailing at all. Putting it metaphorically, the various winds have been strong but yet still, the sails of the boat - dingy, at the very least- refuse to rise. Go figure.

The past few weeks have passed really rapidly, so much so the memories are like fresh paints smudged with wet sponge. Hmmm, fresh paint smudged with wet sponge.. For some reason, reading this sentence once out loud gets my tongue twisted. For the first few parts, camaraderie with Boonkai and Gina were reconnected during various getaways that left my pocket with a searing mark, not that it matters much. Apparently, rubbing your eyes too much can get them abrased as according to Boonkai, who now wears glasses because of this ailment. He said something funny about looking old in glasses and how they could be so onerous. That was also the day Gina realised that her contacts were in fact, off-degree- It is funny how my two friends have optical issues of different sorts concurrently. However, that didn’t seem to stop any of them from finding loads of discrepancies in PhotoHunt, which by the way, makes an awesome group game.

Gina have been working at Fareast Plaza, selling clothes- well, duh. It is a real wonder the way her work days seems to be pretty frequent but yet it does little to cram on her social life. I wonder if she is going to continue working during the school term-  I think I would if I really like my job.  She, like most of my poly friends, are totally hungover and seemingly obsessed with the very thought of the shopping extravaganza in Thailand. Honestly, I was so heavily influenced I had wanted to fly over immediately to get some and sell some until I checked my bankbook. The power of peer pressure..erm, influence; yes, peer influence. Haha. We (Gina, BK and I) had a brief and fleeting conversation about some of her (their?) friends, whose relationship I find intriguing and has totally much more undercurrent than what it percieve itself to be. I think I have a pretty sharp nose for gossips and businesses of other people.

Well look! You are getting to know them better vicariously through this entry. Isn’t it awesome?

By the way, it is Gina’s birthday today. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINA!

Chongning and I have also been hanging out recently, mostly at Astons, be it the express outlet in Bedok or the one in Katong. She had tuition in the area and I was mostly bored and was always hungry. There was this spontaneous spur of moment recently whereby we wanted to play PhotoHunt at 11.30pm in Tampines but it turns out that my PowerCard is maxed out and the counter is closed for the day… To think we scaled 5 levels of unescalating escalators just for that reckless, albeit impetuous whim.

Chongning is rushing me to watch this horoscopic show, and I’m honestly interested. So, off I go!
